Introduction

Cited By (AI Visibility) shows how AI answer engines mention your brand — and helps you improve that visibility with prompts, citations, competitors, and agents.

What is Cited By?

Buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and similar engines for recommendations. Cited By measures whether those answers include your brand, which prompts you win or lose, who gets cited instead, and what content can close the gap.

In the product it appears as AI Visibility. This documentation covers the same product under the Cited By name.

What you can do

  • Track prompts — the buyer questions AI engines evaluate you on, grouped by topic.
  • Monitor citations — when and where your brand (or a competitor) is mentioned in AI answers.
  • Benchmark competitors — see who AI cites instead of you on the same prompts.
  • Act on gaps — use recommendations and content guidance to improve visibility.
  • Bulk-import prompts — upload a CSV to seed or expand your prompt library quickly.
  • Connect agents via MCP — ask Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients about your AI visibility data in plain language.

Prompts

  • Bulk import — download the CSV template, upload prompts (and optional topics), match columns, preview, and import within your plan limit.

MCP

Get started in the product

  1. Sign in to ThriveStack and open AI Visibility (Cited By).
  2. Add or select your brand, then review prompts on the Prompts tab.
  3. To add many prompts at once, use Add prompt → Bulk Upload — see the bulk import guide.
  4. To query the same data from an AI assistant, set up MCP and create a Personal Access Token from AI Visibility settings when needed.
Prompt tracking uses your plan entitlement. If you hit the limit, archive unused prompts or upgrade / buy an add-on before importing more.
